One can expect one to three questions in the GRE quant section from Averages and Statistics. While this is an easy topic at the concept level, one can set really interesting questions in this topic because there are more than one way to combine the different statistical parameters in a question. - Inclusion of exclusion of elements and concomittant change in the average of a set of elements
- Concept of Range of numbers and determining maximum and minimum range
- Mode for a data set. Multi modal data sets.
- Median for a small finite set. Median for large sets of data. 50th percentile concept
- Standard Deviation and variance for a set of data.
- Properties of standard deviation - how it behaves when a 'k' is added or multiplied to all elements of a data set.
